Privacy Policy

Mark & Find does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. The extension author has no access to your data whatsoever.

What stays on your device

All data is stored locally in your browser only (browser.storage.local):

• Settings: your preferences (search engine, open-in mode, toggles, etc.)
• Search history: up to 20 recent queries, only if you have history saving enabled. You can clear or disable it anytime from the History tab.

How searching works

When you trigger a search, the selected text is read from the active tab and passed directly to your chosen search engine as a URL query parameter. It is never sent to any server operated by the extension author. If Auto-search is enabled, the content script listens for mouseup events and reads only the selected text. No other page content is accessed.

Your query goes straight to the search engine you picked (Google, DuckDuckGo, etc.). Refer to their privacy policy for details on how they handle it on their end.
