v0.1.3-alpha — first-setup + fixed compiler package

Choose a tag to compare

@Matt-code-d Matt-code-d released this 05 Nov 19:52

Heads-up before you open an issue

This is an early alpha. Playable for a lot of people, not polished. Glitches, lighting weirdness, crashes, and unfinished bits are expected.

Please read these notes before posting that "it doesn't work." If something is actually broken, say what you did, what you saw, and add a screenshot or logs\warriors.log / logs\compile.log.

Antivirus / "trojan" flags

Some AVs (including Defender) may flag the zip or exes. False positive. The release ships a compiler folder that compiles and loads a DLL from your dump on first PLAY — that pattern trips heuristics. Download only from this GitHub release; allow/exclude the folder if needed. Source is public.

What's new in v0.1.3-alpha

  • Fix: correct release layout — full compiler folder, no prebuilt Warriors.dll (built on first PLAY from your EUR dump), host Warriors.lib + game.toml matched to this exe (fixes "code could not be loaded" / linking failures from bad 0.1.1–0.1.2 packages)
  • Launcher FIRST SETUP on HOME until assets are installed; VIDEO/CONTROLS/ADVANCED stay locked until then
  • Packaged launcher no longer reuses another install's ISO/assets path from Documents

Still alpha

Expect visual glitches (lighting especially), audio quirks, and some instability. Save when you can.

Bring your own legally owned European disc dump — nothing from the game is in this zip.

Needs the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.

How to run

  1. Unzip the whole archive (compiler next to the exe)
  2. Open WarriorsLauncher.exe
  3. FIRST SETUP → install ISO into assets
  4. PLAY (first compile can take a while)

If something blows up, check logs\warriors.log and logs\compile.log.

v0.1.2-alpha — fix missing compiler folder

@Matt-code-d Matt-code-d released this 05 Nov 11:38

Heads-up before you open an issue

This is an early alpha. It boots and is playable for a lot of people, but it is not a polished release. Glitches, lighting weirdness, crashes, and unfinished bits are expected.

Please read the notes / README before posting that "it doesn't work." If something is actually broken for you (like a missing file in the zip), say what you did, what you saw, and stick a screenshot or log if you can. That helps a lot more than "doesn't work" spam.

Antivirus / "trojan" flags

Some antivirus tools (Windows Defender included) may flag the zip or the exes as a trojan / unwanted program. That's a false positive, not malware in the release.

Why it happens:

  • The binaries are unsigned and from a small/new project, so reputation is low.
  • The release ships a compiler folder (clang, lld-link, xbe_recomp, etc.). On first PLAY the host uses those tools to translate your own XBE into a DLL and then load it. That "compile + write + load code" pattern looks a lot like what real malware does, so heuristics light up.
  • Same class of false positive shows up on other recomp / homebrew / emulator-adjacent tools.

What to do: download from the official GitHub release only, allow / exclude the folder if your AV quarantines it, and keep the whole unzip (especially compiler) next to the exe. Source is public if you want to build it yourself.

What's new in v0.1.2-alpha

  • Fix: release zip now includes the compiler folder (clang / lld / xbe_recomp + config). This was missing in v0.1.1-alpha and caused the "compiler folder is missing files" error on PLAY.
  • Same launcher polish as v0.1.1-alpha (HOME clip, language-matched UI, etc.)

Still alpha

Expect visual glitches (lighting especially), audio quirks, and some instability. Save when you can.

Bring your own legally owned European disc dump — nothing from the game is in this zip.

Needs the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.

How to run

  1. Unzip the whole archive (keep the compiler folder next to the exe)
  2. Open WarriorsLauncher.exe
  3. SETUP / ISO → install into assets
  4. PLAY (first start may compile from your dump — give it time)

If something blows up, check logs\warriors.log next to the exe.

v0.1.1-alpha — launcher UI polish

Choose a tag to compare

@Matt-code-d Matt-code-d released this 03 Nov 16:21

What's new in v0.1.1-alpha

  • Launcher UI refresh: HOME / VIDEO / Controls layout, Warriors palette, menu typeface on the sidebar
  • HOME title-screen background animation
  • Launcher language follows the selected game language (XC_LANGUAGE)
  • More localized strings and tighter quick-settings on HOME
  • Host settings / upscaler wiring improvements for the launcher

Still alpha

Expect visual glitches (lighting especially), the odd hard blob or square, audio that is not fully polished, and some instability. Save when you can.

Bring your own legally owned European disc dump — nothing from the game is in this zip.

Needs the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.

How to run

  1. Unzip
  2. Open WarriorsLauncher.exe
  3. SETUP / ISO → install into assets
  4. PLAY

If something blows up, check logs\warriors.log next to the exe.

v0.1.0-alpha — first public drop

Choose a tag to compare

@Matt-code-d Matt-code-d released this 02 Nov 12:40

First public alpha.

You can boot the game from the launcher, install your own EUR ISO, pick a language, and actually play. That part works.

It is still rough. Expect visual glitches (lighting especially), the odd hard blob or square, audio that is not fully polished, and some instability. Save when you can, and do not expect a clean finish everywhere.

Bring your own legally owned European disc dump — nothing from the game is in this zip.

Needs the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.

How to run:

  1. Unzip
  2. Open WarriorsLauncher.exe
  3. SETUP / ISO → install into assets
  4. PLAY

If something blows up, check logs\warriors.log next to the exe.
