Are there plans to add support for NXP MCUs like the i.MX RT series?

There are no plans. It is already done. ;)

The Moddable SDK supports Zephyr. Zephyr is available for many NXP MCUs including the i.MX RT series.. We haven't Zephyr on i.MX RT yet, but portability is generally good.
