Hotkey Configuration

The AGBM includes the ability to assign "hotkey" button presses to whatever functions a user might want. There are four combinations by pressing L, R, and Start, along with either A, B, Select, or Up. When the four buttons are pressed simultaneously, they will trigger whatever feature they are connected to.

  • If you bridge JP1 with solder (labeled "RST", on the back top right corner of the board), then pressing L + R + Start and Up will reset the system.
  • A and B can be configured (independently) to either act as a normal button inputs for external mods, or can be set up to replace a touch input seen on many display kits. If you populate the designated Z components (Z57, Z58, Z70, Z71) with the labeled capacitors, then you can solder a wire from the touch control on the screen kit to the ZA or ZB holes/pads on the board. If instead the Z components are populated with resistors/jumpers, it can be used to interface with triggering external mods.
  • The test point labeled "LR" (near the RST pads) corresponds to pressing L + R + Start + Sel. This does not do anything unless a user solders a wire to the LR point to control an external mod. This is kind of included for people to tinker with; you'll probably not need to do anything with it.

Screen Kit Connections

At the top of the board, there are five pads - L, R, Sel, ZB, and ZA.

  • The L, R, and Sel pads are connected to their corresponding button inputs/test points (TP9, TP8, and TP2, respectively). These are common buttons used to interface with screen kits - solder a wire between these pads and the pads on the screen kit for more convenient wiring than using the test points.
  • ZB and ZA correspond to the hotkey configurations detailed above (L+R+Start+B or +A). As mentioned, they can be used to replace touch inputs by soldering capacitors for the Z components, or button inputs by soldering resistors/jumpers for the Z components.
