Description of bug
Yesterday Minecraft 1.18 was released along with the latest version of Optifine (HD U H3 pre4) that supports Minecraft 1.18. If you create an instance of Minecraft 1.18 in MultiMC and edit the instance to include optifine in the Minecraft .jar (same as you would for 1.17) it will launch the game, but it does not appear to actually use optifine. This is evident from the fact that none of the settings available from optifine show up and the glass textures still include the ugly borders. I will emphasize that this seems to be a bug with multiMC and not with optifine itself. This is evident from the fact that optifine works just fine on the official launcher.
Steps to reproduce
- Create an instance of Minecraft 1.18 in MultiMC with a path to an installation of Java 1.17.
- Download Optifine_1.18_HD_U_H3_pre4, extract it to get the MOD.jar file.
- In MultiMC go to edit instance > version, then click on "add to Minecraft.jar" and drag the MOD.jar file to the folder that pops up.
- Click on the optifine version that shows up and click launch.
