Suggestion

I want to upload the Minecraft Log without losing contents of my clipboard

Benefit

If my problems are such that I need to upload a log, I don't need a new problem, i.e., losing something in my clipboard that I want

This suggestion is unique

  • I have searched the issue tracker and did not find an issue describing my suggestion, especially not one that has been rejected.

You may use the editor below to elaborate further.

Preface: I looked through the issue tracker for this issue, and didn't find anything obvious. But the tracker is voluminous, so I could have missed any duplicates. Apologies if this is true.

Further Elaboration

I'm of the opinion that my Clipboard is for my use, and that programs should not overwrite it without either (1.) my explicit permission, or (2.) a warning that it will happen if I choose to continue an action.

When I use the Upload feature in the Minecraft Log area of a MultiMC instance, I will be told that "a link has been placed in my clipboard." I'm not asked if I want this; I'm told that it has occurred.

This behavior seems inconsistent with how other software works. Usually, I get to decide what goes in the clipboard by using a command such as 'cut' or 'copy.' Likewise, the (sometimes) precious contents of my clipboard is only destroyed as a result of human error or the computer restarting.

It seems like the UX could be improved though a simple option to copy a link to the clipboard.
