This one does print, but the content is cut off after about 1cm: first.json

This one does not print at all: second.json

The UI shows "Sending…", then "Printing…" and the device makes a sound, but it does not print.

I just found out that it does work over Bluetooth when using the Android app. So it seems to be an issue with the serial transport.

Unfortunately, can't reproduce. I have B1 with same HW version, but FW is 5.14. I installed FW 5.16 and printer prints your labels via serial without problems (except the printer make different noises with your version of firmware 😄).

Can you try to install stable 5.14 firmware?

I done it multiple times and you have same hardware version as mine. So I don't think you can brick your device when you switch the firmware from 5.16 to 5.14 (or 5.20).

5.16 is firmware from "testing" branch (maybe it have issues).
5.14 and 5.20 are stable.

UPD: You can also try to upgrade firmware with a phone app.

I can't use the official Android app, because they artificially prevent it from running on rooted devices.

I will now try using the web app from within a Windows 10 VM, as at this point, I suspect my Linux system to be the issue.

I did not work in the VM, but I noticed that the device is not recognized by my system at all when I directly connect it to the PC instead of through a (powered) USB hub. I switched from the type C→C cable I used before to the cable that came with the device and now everything works as expected.

I am also using rooted device and I added app to Magisk DenyList and it runs without problems.
