Installing

Orbit needs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. There is no installer.

  1. Download Orbit-win-x64.zip (about 75 MB; it includes the .NET runtime, and the browser engine comes from the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime that Windows already has).
  2. Right-click the zip and choose Extract All…, or unzip it with any tool. Put the Orbit folder wherever you like, for example C:\Apps\Orbit.
  3. Open the folder and run Orbit.exe.

Tip: right-click Orbit.exe → Pin to taskbar (or Send to → Desktop (create shortcut)).

Windows SmartScreen warning

Orbit isn't code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway. You can inspect the full source in this repository, or build it yourself (Building from Source).

Updating

Orbit updates itself by default; see Updating. To update by hand, download the newer zip and extract it over the old folder (or into a new one). Your bookmarks, history and settings live separately in %APPDATA%\Orbit and are kept.

Uninstalling

Delete the Orbit folder. To also remove your data, delete %APPDATA%\Orbit.
