Troubleshooting

Orbit won't start, or flashes and closes

A copy of Orbit may still be running in the background and holding the browser cache. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), end every Orbit process, then start it again.

"Windows protected your PC"

Orbit isn't code-signed. Choose More info → Run anyway. See Installing.

Video does not play

Orbit plays H.264, AAC, VP9 and AV1 through the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. If a video still won't play, update Windows (the runtime updates with it), check that the site works in Microsoft Edge.

"Orbit needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime"

Orbit draws web pages with the WebView2 Runtime, which comes with Windows 11 and current Windows 10. If your computer doesn't have it, Orbit offers to open Microsoft's download page. Install the "Evergreen Standalone Installer", then start Orbit again.

A site looks broken

If an extension (such as an ad blocker) breaks a page, turn it off for a moment by removing it in Settings → Extensions, or right-click its icon next to the address bar. See Extensions.

A site asks for the camera, microphone or location

Orbit shows a Yes/No prompt each time. Nothing is allowed without your answer.

Where did my tabs go?

Orbit restores the tabs from the last time you closed a window. Turn that off in Settings → Restore tabs. Tabs from private windows are never restored.

Reset everything

Close Orbit and delete %APPDATA%\Orbit (see Settings and Data).

Still stuck?

Open an issue and tell us what you did, what you expected and what happened. Include your Windows version and the Orbit version (menu ⋮ → About Orbit).
