New tab: the + button or
Ctrl+T. -
Close: the ✕ on the tab, middle-click the tab, or
Ctrl+W. Closing the last tab closes the window. -
Reopen a closed tab:
Ctrl+Shift+Tor right-click a tab → Reopen closed tab. -
Switch: click,
Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab, orCtrl+1…Ctrl+8(Ctrl+9jumps to the last tab). - Reorder: drag a tab left or right.
New tab · Reload · Duplicate · Open or close split view · Open in new window · Pin / Unpin · Mute / Unmute site · Close tab · Close other tabs · Close tabs to the right · Reopen closed tab.
Pinned tabs shrink to an icon and stay at the left. Muted tabs show a muted speaker.
- Drag a tab out of the tab strip and let go anywhere that isn't a tab strip: it opens in a new window at your mouse position.
- Drag a tab onto another Orbit window's tab strip: it moves there.
- Or use Open in new window from the tab menu.
The moved page is loaded again in its new window, so scroll position and text you typed into forms aren't carried over. A window's only tab can't be torn off (that would just be moving the window).
Show two pages next to each other in one window.
- Start: menu (⋮) → Open split view, or right-click a tab → Open split view. A new tab opens beside the current one and the address bar is ready for you to type.
- Split with an existing tab: select the tab you want on one side, then right-click the other tab → Split with current tab.
- Resize: drag the divider between the panes.
- Which pane is active: the one you last clicked. The address bar, find, zoom and other commands act on it.
- Tabs in a split show a small split icon. Clicking either tab shows both panes. Selecting any other tab shows that tab full width; the split comes back when you return.
- End: menu (⋮) → Close split view, or right-click a tab in the split → Close split view. Closing either tab also ends the split.
