[Question]: special-characters in basic-auth password

I did several unsuccessful experiments with an very long and very complex password containing characters like colons (":"), pipes, brackets etc - also by using environment-variable CHECK_PROMETHEUS_BASICAUTH. How do I have to pass user and pwd with the "-u"-parameter?

That would be check_prometheus -u $USER:$PASSWORD.

Probably a misunderstanding: syntax is not the problem - it's the content of $PASSWORD. If it contains a colon it seems that the password is being sent incorrectly. Unfortunately the plugin doesn't have a "verbose"-mode to check this.
