What do you want to work on?

Hello. I want to work on #1009, for which I opened a proposal PR #1004.

A few words about my background. I work on project Gardener which is a managed Kubernetes solution. I have experience with Kubernetes platform engineering and security.

Why this change?

The current gateway image contains a lot of unnecessary artefacts. Those can cause harm in the following ways:

• increased egress traffic (when pulling the image) and slower startup times (in case the image is not already pulled and cached)
• unnecessary binaries increase the surface for potential attacks
• CVEs are reported even for unused binaries when the image is scanned, which leads to maintenance burden, unnecessary triaging
