Initial Stable Release: Modular Build System and Core Fixes

This release stabilizes the macOS Native Linux Kernel Build environment. All operational logic has been modularized into the scripts/ directory, and critical silent build failures related to GNU Make argument passing have been resolved. This version is tested and stable for building v6.18+ kernel tags.

Key Milestones in this Release

  • Feature: Modularized Build Scripts
    • Moved all lifecycle functions (mount, repo, build, config) from run.sh into dedicated, single-responsibility files within the new scripts/ directory. run.sh now operates purely as a command dispatcher.
  • Fix: Resolved Silent Build Failure
    • Corrected the argument passing for make in scripts/build.sh ("$targets" changed to $targets) to enable shell word splitting, fixing the "No rule to make target 'Image dtbs modules'" error.
  • Fix: Syntax and Load Stability
    • Cleaned up shell syntax in core scripts (e.g., scripts/image.sh) to ensure all functions are correctly defined and loaded, resolving fatal exits on function calls.
  • Prerequisites: Requires macOS Sequoia/Tahoe+ and essential Homebrew packages (llvm, make, gnu-sed, etc.).

Quick Start (Build RISC-V v6.18)

  1. ./run.sh (Mounts image and clones repo)
  2. ./run.sh branch v6.18
  3. ./run.sh patch patches/v6.18/0001-usr-gen_init_cpio-Replace-linux-kernel-syscall-with-.patch
  4. ./run.sh arch riscv
  5. ./run.sh config defconfig
  6. ./run.sh build
