999 2.0.0b3
999 2.0.0b3 makes Library maintenance easier to complete without hiding
important decisions or changing music files without confirmation.
Highlights
- Guided Library Maintenance refreshes the collection, summarizes its health,
then walks through unresolved decisions one song at a time. - Catalogue matching remains conservative. Ambiguous recordings are presented
for the user to choose, and confirmed matches flow directly into a check for
available lyrics. - Add Lyrics opens the existing preview and confirmation flow. Backups,
verification, and rollback safeguards remain in place for file changes. - Song Details and More / Advanced use clearer contextual actions with arrow
and Enter navigation. Items can be skipped or deferred; completed work is
saved, and reopening Maintenance recomputes what remains. - Catalogue outages stop repeated online matching attempts while preserving
trusted identities and allowing local work to continue. - Local Lyrics Search works offline across embedded MP3, FLAC, and M4A lyrics
plus adjacent plain or timed LRC files. Timed results retain timestamps, and
its local index reuses unchanged tracks. - Expanded generated multi-format acceptance verifies Maintenance, lyric
safety, skip/resume, and minimal work on repeated unchanged-library runs.
v2.0.0b2 and v2.0.0b1 remain available as fallback prereleases.

What's new

- Improved the README with direct installation, troubleshooting, and fallback guidance.
- The previous
v2.0.0b1beta remains available as the immutable fallback.
999 2.0.0b1
999 2.0.0b1 beta
This is the first beta release of the redesigned 999 Linux CLI/TUI.
Highlights
- Makes
999the primary command while retaining thejuice-lyricslegacy alias and existing XDG namespace. - Adds the keyboard-first Dashboard, Browse, Library, Downloads, Settings, and Help experience.
- Centers routine library work on Sync Library and focused Issues, Duplicates, Missing Library, manual matching, backup/restore, and metadata-repair views.
- Adds native MP3, FLAC, and M4A library discovery and format-aware metadata, lyric, status, backup, restore, and verification behavior.
- Uses adjacent atomic
.lrcsidecars for synchronized lyrics and preserves conservative identity matching and manual locks. - Adds explicit catalogue browsing and a durable, validated download queue with safe resume and atomic finalization.
- Adds read-only Doctor diagnostics and deterministic Bash, Zsh, and Fish completion generation.
Automated and live beta acceptance passed, including the 540+ test full-suite checkpoint, live Bandit (94107) and 10 Feet (94102) identity checks, a disposable download, and MP3/FLAC/M4A preservation checks. No release blocker was demonstrated.
Known non-blocking beta limitations
- Visual polish has not been exhaustively manually reviewed.
- Fish runtime validation was unavailable locally, although deterministic generation tests pass.
- Independent second-machine pipx testing has not occurred.
- Optional rmpc live notification was not fully exercised.
This pre-release is distributed through GitHub. It has not been published to PyPI or another package index.
