Installation

  1. Download Beakshield.dmg.
  2. Open the DMG.
  3. Drag Beakshield into your Applications folder.
  4. Launch Beakshield.

First-Time Setup

Beakshield requires a running DAWSON Core server.

If you have not already installed DAWSON Core, download it from:

https://github.com/OBrown101/dawson-server/releases

Once DAWSON is running:

  1. Open System → DAWSON Server → Manage Connection.
  2. Enter:
    • IP Address
    • Port (8443)
    • Authentication Token
    • Certificate Fingerprint
  3. Save the connection.

Configuring AI Providers

Before creating your first chat, configure at least one AI provider.

Open:

System → Providers

Supported providers currently include:

  • OpenAI
  • Anthropic
  • Ollama (local models)

After saving your provider configuration, Beakshield will automatically retrieve the available models.

Your First Chat

  1. Press Start Chat.
  2. Choose a model.
  3. Select the desired permission mode.
  4. Start chatting.

Attach one or more directories if you want your Squirebot to work with local files.

Updating

Simply replace your existing Beakshield application with the newer version.

Your chats, settings, and server configuration are stored separately and will be preserved.
