Announcement - GRASS Project Steering Committee elections 2026

Dear members of the GRASS community,

We are launching the 2026 election of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) on Monday 28 September 2024. The PSC currently has nine (9) members. In this election, five (5) seats are open for renewal, offering an opportunity for new members to join the committee.

The nominating and voting process is explained in full detail in the Wiki (https://grasswiki.osgeo.org/wiki/PSC_Election_2026).

In summary the election will proceed as follows:

• announcement of elections: 2026-09-14
• nomination period: 2026-09-28 to 2026-10-19
• presentation of the candidates: 2026-10-19 to 2026-10-26
• voting period: 2026-11-02 to 2026-11-09
• announcement of the newly elected PSC: 2026-11-14 (at latest)

Eligible voters are people who:

• have one or more merged pull requests in any of grass, grass-addons, grass-website, grass-tutorials, rgrass, grass-promo repositories,
• participated in GRASS PSC and community events,
• have one or more merged pull requests in qgis/QGIS related to GRASS integration,
• are registered and have translated for GRASS GIS in Weblate

A list of eligible voters according to these criteria has already been compiled. This list can be found here:

Please have a look at the list and check if you are registered and your data is labeled complete. If your data appears with an "incomplete" label, or if you believe you meet the criteria but do not find your name, or if you find your name but do not want to receive an invitation to vote, please contact the CRO (cro.grass at osgeo.org) before 27 September 2026.
