Gurumin Enhanced Rendering 1.1.0
Adds an optional 6DoF VR mode (OpenXR): third-person VR with a camera rig that follows Parin.
- Turn it on with VR (OpenXR) in the launcher's Display / Camera / VR group, or start the game with
-vrfor one launch. VR is off by default. - Life size or Diorama (tabletop) scale. Right stick orbits and raises the rig, left stick moves Parin relative to where you look, click both sticks to recenter. Gamepads and VR controllers (Touch, Index, Vive, WMR, simple) both work.
- Single-pass stereo with culling and map scenery following the headset. The HUD floats on a soft head-following panel; title, menus and loading appear on a virtual screen. Fades cover the whole view.
- Works with SteamVR or Monado/WiVRn, on Windows and on Linux through Proton. Under Proton the eye images go to the runtime without a CPU copy.
- Desktop: water reflections now follow the interpolated camera instead of stepping at 30 Hz at high frame rates.
One ZIP for Windows and Linux. Extract and copy the release folder contents into the game folder, including the new GuruminVR folder. Optional installers provide automatic Steam detection; launch the game through Steam.
Linux: set WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command%. With the separate PSP outfits mod, use WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b;dinput8=n,b" %command%. If the game cannot find Monado/WiVRn, add PRESSURE_VESSEL_IMPORT_OPENXR_1_RUNTIMES=1 before %command%.
Existing preferences are preserved. Advanced VR options are listed in GuruminModern.ini.
Gurumin Enhanced Rendering 1.0.4
- Replace Interiors only with Out of town only, enabled by default, excluding
just the main town exterior while allowing freecam in rooms and dungeons. - Align fixed-camera freecam movement with the visible camera direction while
retaining authored anchor following and native movement timing.
One ZIP for Windows and Linux. Extract and copy the release folder contents into the game folder. Optional installers provide automatic Steam detection; launch the game through Steam.
Linux: set WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command%. With the separate PSP outfits mod, use WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b;dinput8=n,b" %command%.
Free camera defaults off; Out of town only and Invert X default on. Existing preferences are preserved.
Gurumin Enhanced Rendering 1.0.3
Adds anisotropic texture filtering options through 16× in Graphics / Audio → Texture Filtering.
- Higher levels apply to the native renderer and respect the GPU's supported maximum.
- Nearest/pixelated texture overrides remain available. Choose World textures → Native filtering to use anisotropic filtering.
- Verified saved 16× selection across launcher restarts and an actual 16× D3D9 sampler state. Nearest-sampling restoration checks passed at 4×, 8×, and 16×.
One download for Windows and Linux: extract the ZIP and copy the release folder's contents into the game folder, replacing the previous renderer DLL. Existing settings are preserved. Optional installers are included.
On Linux/Proton, Steam launch options must include:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command%If using the separate PSP outfits mod too, retain both overrides:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b;dinput8=n,b" %command%Targets the Steam 1.4 version of Gurumin. The outfit mod remains a separate download.
Gurumin Enhanced Rendering 1.0.2
Copy the contents of the ZIP’s single folder into the game folder beside game.exe. Start Gurumin through Steam. No executable patch or install script is required on Windows.
On Linux/Steam Deck, also set Gurumin’s Steam launch option to:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n,b" %command%
The Optional installers folder provides automatic Steam detection and drag/drop installation. Its Linux script sets the launch option automatically; close Steam while it does so. Installers never launch the game.
This packaging revision replaces the original v1.0 download with a simpler combined Windows/Linux package. True high-resolution rendering, Hor+ ultrawide, proportional HUD, frame interpolation, optional dual-analog camera, shadows, FXAA and filtering remain included. Free camera and Interiors only default off; Invert X defaults on. Existing preferences are retained.
Tested by launching the unmodified Steam executable with only the copied DLL: 3440×1440 output and a 3440-pixel internal target. Also verified: 37 Python regression tests, native x86 render fixture, and both packaged optional installers (Windows under Wine). Astra reviewed the updated install boundaries.
Supports Steam 1.4/build 603361. No game executable or game asset is shipped. Code and credits are in the README; SHA256SUMS verifies the ZIP.
