How can we "turn off" the notification of appointment?

We have successfully created appointments by using this api and it works great. Now we are having one question: is there a way we can turn off the notification of appointment we create? Some clients prefer not seeing those notification when the time of appointment is up. Can we disable the notification from API for appointment? Any suggestions are highly appreciated! Thanks  a lot!
