🏁 Getting Started

When you first open iPhoto, you'll see the Basic Library — not bound screen:

Click "Bind Basic Library…" to select any folder on your computer —
that folder will become your album root.

iPhoto will automatically scan its contents, generate thumbnails, and recognize Live Photos,
creating a lightweight .iphoto.album.json manifest inside that folder.

📁 From now on, you can simply open this folder again to view, manage, edit, or sync your photos directly.

🎨 How to Edit Photos

Select a photo in the gallery or detail viewer
Click the Edit button in the toolbar

3. **Choose your mode:** - **Adjust** — for light, color, and black & white adjustments - **Crop** — for perspective correction, straightening, and cropping 4. **Make your adjustments** using the sliders and controls 5. **Click Done** to save your edits (stored in `.ipo` sidecar files)

To revert edits:
Simply return to Edit mode and click "Revert to Original" — your original photo is restored instantly.

💾 Exporting Edited Photos

When you edit photos in iPhoto, all adjustments are stored non-destructively in .ipo sidecar files next to your originals. To share or use your edited photos elsewhere, you need to export them, which renders the adjustments into new image files.

How to Export

Export Selected Photos:

Select one or more photos in the gallery (edited or unedited)
Go to File > Export Selected in the menu

Choose a destination (or use the default)
iPhoto will:
- Render edited photos with all adjustments applied and save as high-quality JPG (regardless of original format)
- Copy unedited photos and videos as-is (preserving original format)

Export All Edited Photos:

Go to File > Export All Edited in the menu
Choose a destination (or use the default)
iPhoto will scan your entire library and export all photos that have .ipo sidecar files

Export Destination Settings

Configure where exported files are saved via Settings > Export Destination:

📂 Basic Library (default): Exports to an exported/ folder inside your library root, mirroring your album structure
❓ Ask Every Time: Prompts you to choose a destination folder for each export operation

💡 Tip: Original files remain completely untouched during export. You can safely share exported files while preserving your editable originals in the library.

📂 Open a Folder Temporarily / 临时打开文件夹

If you just want to browse a folder without binding it as a library,
you can use the "Open Album Folder…" option from the top menu:

This lets you temporarily open any directory to preview its photos and videos —
no manifest file will be created, and your original files remain untouched.

🏁 开始使用

首次启动 iPhoto 时，你会看到如下界面：

🎨 如何编辑照片

💾 导出已编辑的照片

如何导出

导出选定的照片：

通过 设置（Settings） > 导出目标（Export Destination） 配置导出文件的保存位置：

❓ 每次询问（Ask Every Time）：每次导出操作时提示您选择目标文件夹

💡 提示： 导出过程中原始文件完全不受影响。您可以安全地分享导出的文件，同时在图库中保留可编辑的原始文件。

📂 临时打开文件夹

如果您只是想 临时浏览某个文件夹，而不想将它绑定为永久相册，
可以点击顶部菜单中的 "Open Album Folder…"（打开相册文件夹）：

此操作将 直接打开并预览文件夹内的照片和视频，
不会创建 .iphoto.album.json 文件，也不会对原始媒体做任何更改。

All photo edits are stored in .ipo (iPhoto Output) sidecar files next to your original images:

The .ipo file contains:
