Piano Visualizer v0.3.0-alpha

A feature-focused alpha release of Piano Visualizer, adding recording and playback support for synchronized MIDI and camera recordings.

This release introduces the ability to record performances with both MIDI and camera data, then replay them later with the visualizer and audio synchronized to the recorded performance.

🎬 Recording Playback

Piano Visualizer can now replay recorded performances containing both MIDI and camera data.

When a recording is selected, the first camera frame is loaded as a placeholder. Starting playback synchronizes the camera video, MIDI visualization, and audio to the recorded timeline.

Playback supports:

• Pause / resume

• Recording selection
• Recording deletion
• MIDI note and controller event playback
• Camera video playback
• Reverse scroll
• Scroll speed
• Preroll timing

⚠️ Early Release

This is an early alpha release and should be considered experimental.

The recording and playback system is now functional, but some edge cases and compatibility issues may still exist.

Known bugs

• Some VST3 plugins may crash under certain conditions.
• Some VST3 plugins may crash when the main window loses focus.
• Virtual camera compatibility may vary between applications.
• Recording playback may have occasional synchronization or video playback issues depending on the recording and system.
• Video playback performance and loading times may vary depending on the recording.

🖥️ Requirements

• Windows 10 or later
• x64 processor
• DirectX 11 compatible GPU
• A MIDI input device for MIDI visualization
• A camera for camera-based features
• A compatible VST3 instrument/plugin for audio output

Virtual Camera

• Virtual Camera Extension — required for virtual camera functionality
• Windows-compatible camera software that supports virtual cameras

🚀 Getting Started

1. Download PianoVisualizer.exe from the assets below.
2. Place the executable somewhere convenient.
3. Run PianoVisualizer.exe.
4. Configure your MIDI device, audio output, camera, and piano surface settings.
5. Load a VST3 instrument if desired.
6. To record a performance, use the recording controls and optionally enable camera recording.
7. Open Playback Settings to select and replay a recorded performance.
8. To use the virtual camera, install the Virtual Camera Extension and start the virtual camera from within Piano Visualizer, under the camera settings.

Windows SmartScreen: Piano Visualizer is currently distributed as an unsigned executable, so Windows may display a "Windows protected your PC" / "Unknown publisher" warning when launching it. This is a reputation/signing warning and does not indicate that the application is known to be malicious.
