I just added suggestions to add the defaults for x_kind and y_kind. Once the doc tests pass with these updated suggestions, we can merge.

@jcharkow can you restart the docs build? Seems to have failed due to memory consumption? Or do we have push an arbitrary commit?

I'm trying to rebuild, it might fail again though since we are at the edge of requiring too much memory
