can;t build the dll only static libs in MSVC

Hello I am building the lib under MSVC using CMAKE
When I check out the static libs option (assuming it creates the DLL) they get checked again
how can i create the dll ?

I'm not sure I understand the problem, are you using some development interface (Visual Studio or whatever) to "check out" the option ? It should be possible to check either static or dynamic libs on Windows, but not both (due to some old limitation of Visual Studio, not sure if that is still true). Only when none of the two is selected, will static libs be enabled automatically.
(If you are building the current develop branch, choosing dynamic libs will start a static build internally and create the shared lib from it afterwards, but I do not think this is visible in any IDE)

thanks the CMAKE GUI as is does not allow for selecting the build of dll
I just added the variable BUILD_SHARED_LIBS and checked it on and it

Oh, does the GUI need an option(BUILD_SHARED_LIBS) in the CMakeLists.txt to make that choice visible ? I don't think we ever had that, and everybody seemed to assume that it was not necessary for such a core CMake variable
