Document Wiegand ACCESS-Port profile for firmware design #11

@mastertape

Description

@mastertape

Wiegand should be captured as an important ACCESS-Port reference profile before firmware work starts.

Context:

  • Wiegand is widely used by keypads, RFID/NFC readers, fingerprint modules and access-control controllers.
  • For OpenParcelBox it should be treated as an input/credential interface, not as the lock-control interface.
  • Lock actuation remains separate, internal and controlled by the OpenParcelBox Core through the LOCK-Port or a protected driver path.

Acceptance criteria:

  • ACCESS-Port Wiegand profile is documented.
  • Common Wiegand formats and keypad/PIN behavior are researched.
  • Firmware normalizes reader input into an AccessCredentialEvent or equivalent model.
  • Hardware assumptions for D0/D1, GND, reader power, tamper/contact, LED and buzzer are captured.
  • Open questions for the first firmware prototype are listed.

Current reference:

  • docs/hardware/wiegand-access-port.md
