❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is OpenSAK?
OpenSAK is a free, open-source geocache management tool — a modern,
cross-platform successor to GSAK. It runs on Windows, Linux and macOS.
Is OpenSAK free?
Yes, completely free and open-source under the MIT licence.
Source code: https://github.com/AgreeDK/OpenSAK
What is the difference between OpenSAK and GSAK?
GSAK is Windows-only and now freeware but no longer actively developed.
OpenSAK runs on Windows, Linux and macOS, is actively developed, and is
fully open-source.
What file types can I import?
Does OpenSAK work without an internet connection?
Yes — once your caches are imported into the local database, OpenSAK works
fully offline. The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles which require internet, but
cache data, filters and logs work offline.
Does OpenSAK support Favorite Points?
Favorite Points are not available via GPX export from geocaching.com, so
OpenSAK cannot currently import them. This is a geocaching.com API
limitation, not an OpenSAK limitation.
Which languages does OpenSAK support?
Currently: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Czech and Swedish.

Where do I report a bug?
Please post in Bug Reports
with as much detail as possible — your OS, OpenSAK version, and steps to
reproduce the issue.
Where do I suggest new features?
Post your ideas in Feature Requests.
How do I stay updated on new releases?
New versions are announced in Announcements.
OpenSAK also notifies you automatically at startup when a new version is available.
