Use of wait cursor

Would it be possible to set the cursor to the wait option when runing a process that could take sometime? For instance appling a filter, changing a database etc. At the moment when doing these things I am not sure if I did click on the button or not, It would be helpful to also disbale the button to prevent a second click from happening and causing additional issues.
