We’re hiring our first Founding Engineering Lead! 🎉

Hey all! I’m super excited to share that we’re hiring our first Founding Engineering Lead to help make OpenWhispr the best open-source voice interface in the world.

We believe billions of people will communicate with AI through voice, and we want that future to be open and privacy-respecting. Thousands of people already use OpenWhispr every day, including people who can’t install proprietary alternatives at work but can use OpenWhispr.

There’s still so much we want to build:

• An exceptional local experience: optimizing our voice pipelines and getting the best performance and quality from the local models we support.
• A great cloud experience: improving latency, quality, and reliability for our paying users and enterprise customers.
• A proactive voice assistant: the next phase of OpenWhispr, and something we’re incredibly excited about.

I’m really grateful that we’ve been able to give people something genuinely useful for free, respect their privacy, and build a paid offering that funds a team to keep improving the product. That’s the best of both worlds for us, and this hire is a big step toward doing more of it.

This is an in-person role in San Francisc, Chicago or New York. We believe working together in person matters for this early stage, so that’s a firm requirement for now.
