Thank you for writing this article that provided great insights into UCSD and also it's new Artificial Intelligence major. It's amazing that UCSD was able to pull this together at such an early stage of commercial interest in AI. For comparison, UCI does not have a separate AI degree. They do have a comparable Intelligent Systems specialization, but the pathway is not as clear. This would be an example at UCI: University of California, Irvine — B.S. Computer Science, Intelligent Systems Specialization
UCSD has more classes geared toward a general AI degree, though UCI does have a visual computer specialization that is separate from intelligent systems, so UCSD offers a broader base of AI knowledge instead of the traditional core base of computer systems knowledge: Probabilistic & Decision Inference Deep & Specialized Learning Computer Vision Sequence Natural Language & Systems Cross-Disciplinary AI Electives AI and Society / Ethics |
