This project implements a real‑time 3D collision detection system inside my custom C++ rendering engine. The system combines accurate OBB-OBB collision detection using the Separating Axis Theorem with an Octree to reduce unnecessary collision checks as object counts increase. The goal is to provide a minimal, efficient, and fully functional collision detection.
To evaluate performance, the project includes a dedicated benchmarking tool (Benchmark.cpp) that records FPS, delta time, and collider counts over a configurable number of frames. Results are automatically exported to CSV, enabling comparison between naive and Octree‑based collision detection, as well as testing different Octree configurations, such as depth and looseness.
