What type of Apple device is the feature request for?
iPhone
Describe the feature
Something like this. It doesn’t need to look exactly like this, but having genre support would be really nice, even if it starts out manual.
- Maybe add a setting so when we add something to our library, it asks for the genre
- We could enter it manually at first, and then it saves locally so it starts remembering what we’ve used
- Over time, this would let us build our own genre system based on our library
Feature Motivation
This would significantly improve long term tracking and data visibility within the app. Currently, the stats provide a strong snapshot of activity, but they lack historical context. Adding genre tracking and a basic event or history system would allow users to understand trends over time rather than just current totals.
For example, being able to see when a genre was added, how reading habits shift between genres, or how the library evolves would turn the stats page from a static dashboard into a meaningful analytics tool. Even a simple system that logs changes like added titles, updated genres, or reading milestones would create a foundation for deeper insights later.
This also improves user engagement. When users can see progression, patterns, and changes over time, it reinforces continued use of the app. It adds a sense of growth and history rather than just accumulation.
Overall, this feature would:
- Add historical depth to existing stats
- Enable trend analysis across genres and reading behavior
- Improve user retention through visible progress and insights
- Create a scalable foundation for future analytics features without requiring a full overhaul later
Anything Else?
I would love progress updates on this :)
