FILESORT MACOS GITHUB BETA — TESTERS ONLY

This build is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized by Apple. It is intended for
free, non-commercial testing on a test Mac. Apple has not verified the
developer identity, and macOS is expected to block the first installation.

To test it without disabling Gatekeeper:

1. Double-click "FileSort-Beta-Installer.pkg".
2. After macOS blocks it, open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
3. Find the message about FileSort and choose Open Anyway.
4. Authenticate and confirm that you want to open it.

Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.

The installer package is intentionally unsigned. Sparkle verifies future
packages with FileSort's independent Ed25519 update key, but package updates
still require administrator authorization. The first beta establishes the
update channel; a real installed beta-to-beta update must still be validated.

When FileSort later adopts Apple Developer ID, beta users will receive a newer
Developer ID-signed and notarized build through this beta feed. The existing
beta feed and Sparkle key must remain available for that migration.

This is the first combined macOS and Windows prerelease. It is intended for testing, not production deployment.

Install

macOS

Open FileSort.Installer.pkg. This preview installer is unsigned and not notarized. If Gatekeeper blocks it, Control-click the package and choose Open, or approve it under System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Windows

Put the matching .msix, matching .cer, and install_development.ps1 in the same folder, then run the PowerShell script. It shows the trust change and requires typing INSTALL before adding the public development certificate for the current user and installing FileSort.

Uninstall an older development build first because every workflow run uses a new short-lived certificate.

Platform notes

• macOS OCR remains Apple Vision.
• Windows OCR uses the native Windows OCR API.
• Local model inference remains on-device. Intel Macs can try the experimental Metal backend and fall back to Ollama CPU automatically.
• Windows x64 requires Windows 10 build 19041 or newer.
• Windows ARM64 requires Windows 11 build 22000 or newer.

Preview signing and validation

• The macOS apps are ad-hoc signed; the package is unsigned and unnotarized.
• Windows packages are development-signed. Their certificates expire on 14 August 2026 and the signatures are not timestamped.
• x64 and ARM64 core and installer workflows passed from source commit 4211f8a.
• All four macOS payloads passed architecture, minimum-OS, signature, shell, worker, and privacy checks locally, including Intel execution under Rosetta.
• Physical Intel, macOS 11.3–13 hardware, and clean end-user Windows installation remain prerelease acceptance checks.

FileSort 0.10.2 Windows one-file installer preview

One installer for Windows 10/11 x64 and Windows 11 ARM64.

Download FileSort-Windows-Setup.exe and double-click it. Confirm the development-certificate notice and approve the single Windows permission prompt. The installer validates its embedded signed x64/ARM64 bundle, replaces an older FileSort development build, and installs the correct package automatically. No separate MSIX, CER, or PowerShell script is required.

This preview uses a short-lived FileSort development certificate, so Windows SmartScreen may show an unrecognized-app warning. Only run the installer downloaded from this official release.

FileSort 0.10.2 native Windows installer preview.

• One FileSort-Windows-Setup.exe supports x64 Windows 10/11 and ARM64 Windows 11.
• The installer no longer launches or depends on PowerShell. It uses Windows APIs for bundle validation, certificate trust, older-package replacement, and installation.
• An existing FileSort development package is removed automatically during installation.
• This preview uses a short-lived self-signed development certificate, so Windows shows one UAC approval prompt. A production-signed release will not need that development trust step.
• The exact attached EXE passed native validation, installation, application launch, and OCR smoke tests on both x64 and ARM64 Windows runners.

FileSort 0.10.0 is the first native Windows preview.

Included

• Native Windows app with review, settings, and management UI
• Local Windows OCR helper
• PDF integration in File Explorer
• Packaged Python worker, Poppler, and Ollama CPU/Vulkan runtime
• Development-signed x64 MSIX with a guarded install script

Install

1. Download FileSort.msix, FileSort.Development.cer, and
   install_development.ps1 into the same folder.

2. Open PowerShell in that folder.

3. Run:

   powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install_development.ps1

4. Type INSTALL when prompted.

Important

This is a development-signed preview. The install helper adds the included
public certificate to CurrentUser\TrustedPeople; only install assets obtained
from this GitHub release. The private signing key was created non-exportable on
GitHub Actions and deleted immediately after signing.

The package requires x64 Windows 10 build 19041 or newer. SHA-256 checksums are
provided in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Installation

Download FileSort-Installer-Apple-Silicon-Intel.pkg, open it, and follow the installer. If FileSort is not immediately visible in Finder, right-click a PDF, choose Quick Actions → Customize…, and enable FileSort once.

The apps are currently ad-hoc signed and the installer is unsigned. Developer ID signing and notarization will be added separately.
