smartshift - unclear documentation

The documentation for smartshift is not very understandable.

In the example config I see the "torque" parameter, which is not documented at all. Is this an issue of documentation or the config having unexisting parameter?

Next thing is that the documented smartshift options include:

threshold
This is an optional integer field between 1-255 that defines the threshold required to change the SmartShift wheel to free-spin.

default_threshold
This is an optional integer field between 1-255 that defines the mouse's default threshold required to change the SmartShift wheel to free-spin.

How do they differ? What "default" means in this context? Maybe something like "applied for each host the mouse switches to"? Just guessing.

And how can I find out the "real default" value of threshold used by mouse when this/these option is/are not used?

I have the exact same questions, perhaps the default_threshold parameter is a useless parameter the device recognizes but does not utilize for anything, like the sensor parameter of the CycleDPI feature. I've testes the torque parameter on an MX Master 3 at values 1, 100, 255 and they do not seem to have any effect. The example configuration is 2 years old and the undocumented torque parameter still persists.
