  • My issue is about PlaceholderAPI and not any expansion or external plugin
  • The issue isn't already fixed in a Spigot Release or Development Build.

Type

Plugin/Server Incompatability

What happens?

Since Paper's Adventure API update (build 473 onwards) running MultiChat, one of the best cross-server chat plugins out there at the moment, and PAPI on the same server causes messages containing hex codes sent by players in the general/normal chat to not show up at all.

In a bungeecord setup, these messages do appear on the connected servers except for the one where the message was originally sent. I have submitted this incompatibility to MultiChat as well but it has been a few weeks with no word from them about it.

Expected Behaviour

Messages sent in chat appear as normal.

How to Reproduce

  1. Set up a server running any Paper build after build 472. The latest version is fine.
  2. Install the following plugins:
  1. Set up a bungeecord server with MultiChat installed and point it at the Spigot server.
  2. Change the Spigot server into offline mode and set "bungeecord" to true in spigot.yml.
  3. Connect through the bungeecord proxy and attempt to send a message that contains a hex colour code. The message will not appear. If you set your MultiChat nickname to something that contains a hex code, this will happen to all of your messages.
