Thank you @namurphy for leading the effort all these years. Was so much fun working with you and @rocco8773 and organizing two PlasmaPy conferences! 😅 My only regret is that when I changed my GitHub username, it kept all my contributions under my old username! 😢 |

Congratulations, Nick!
You've birthed an amazing research and education tool for the plasma
science, engineering, and education communities.
Long live the coders!!

This is the sole reason keeping me from changing my GitHub username to
@DarthFortran.

Congrats Nick and everyone! It's been wonderful watching this project grow and mature. Just last week at APS DPP I was having a discussion with a retired scientist who mentioned having to learn Python, and how one can use a handful of functions in PlasmaPy to estimate certain laser-plasma interaction effects. Very cool to see the community using the tools we wrote together.
To many more fruitful years,
Pawel

Congratulations @namurphy and the whole community! It was such a joy getting to contribute such an amazing project with one of the friendliest, most diverse and most welcoming open source communities I've ever had the pleasure to be part of. <3 |

Congrats Nick and the team! I fell out of touch after moving but the
project is still close to my heart. I have been following the project
closely. Some day I will find the time to get back to contributing.
Keep up the great work guys!
Cheers,
Tulasi

Today is the 10-year anniversary of PlasmaPy's first commit. This commit added the BSD 3-clause license 📜 on November 24, 2015, and followed perhaps a year of me complaining about how plasma physics lacked and really needed an equivalent to Astropy. 😅
I added some basic package infrastructure over the next few days. You can browse through the files at this point in history and see PlasmaPy's first function. 😹🌌 Seeing
setup.pyagain brings back a lot of memories! 🥲 The repository was idle for most of the next year before proposing the idea of PlasmaPy in a poster presentation at the APS DPP meeting in the fall of 2016 that gathered a lot of interest. We began development in earnest in early 2017.Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the PlasmaPy project over the years in a variety of ways! I'd especially like to thank @StanczakDominik, @rocco8773, @pheuer, @ejohnson-96, @JaydenR2305, @dschaffner, @svincena, @Sjbrownian, @qudsiramiz, @haman80, @KhalilBryant, @shaunagm, @SolarDrew, @Cadair, @wtbarnes, @lemmatum, @samurai688, @ritiek, @jasperbeckers, @Tiger-Du, @TrestanSimon, @mohawk811, @gregordecristoforo, @Getahun-yw-Mahl, @josephrhsmith, Sara Negussie, Derek Schaeffer, @colbych, @RAJAGOPALAN-GANGADHARAN, Ben Maruca, @yopology, @tulasinandan, and many others.
