Suggestion

PolyMC to have a controller-friendly UX/UI and ability to easily set a default instance to launch.

Using PolyMC with the touchscreen is a pain, and I've had to add a launch option to set a default instance to load, This whole system is very janky and could be improved for better integration with integrated gaming devices such as the Steam Deck. Hopefully this could be done to make it less cumbersome to run minecraft on the Steam Deck and other handhelds.

I think it's more trouble than it's worth. With the existing cli --launch option you can easily setup shortcuts to launch different instances (shortcuts meaning desktop shortcuts, non-Steam games in Steam, or any other launcher), and still be able to start PolyMC without launching an instance.

If you have a "default instance" setting, if you only have a shortcut to PolyMC, you now can't start PolyMC without launching that instance. Of course, you could add another cli option --no-launch or something like "Hold Shift (or some button on Steam Deck) while starting PolyMC to disable auto launch instance"...

#541 is a better solution. Adding non-Steam games programmatically is a little more complicated than desktop shortcuts but doable, for example sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch@07adb49

I do that and I assume most others do, but It's more for people who may not understand how to do that or for better convenience. Was just a thought.

Could we perhaps have an instance that as assumed/default for the --launch command? Perhaps even the last launched instance.

A command line parameter to start the instance directly in offline mode would be great. Especially as the Deck is often on the move and therefore doesn't have a connection to validate the account.

you can add an offline account and then use --profile
