Project: Consolation is an experimental enhancement project for the PC version of 007: Quantum of Solace multiplayer.
Its goal is to improve, extend, and modernize the stock PC experience while keeping the original game intact at its core. This includes engine patches, gameplay fixes, unlocked and adjusted dvars, custom scripting support, console work, UI improvements, and quality-of-life features for both players and modders.
This project is still experimental.
Some features are unfinished, unstable, or actively being reworked. Nightly builds and in-progress features should be treated as testing material, not polished releases.
- Engine and gameplay patches
- Unlocked and adjusted dvars
- Custom GSC script loading and overrides
- Borderless fullscreen and other quality-of-life fixes
- A custom external console and in-game console
- Modding-oriented infrastructure for future expansion
Includes:
When Games for Windows - LIVE launched, some games used a legacy activation model. Those keys were sometimes reusable across multiple titles that used the same legacy method.
Because of that, some still-listed older Games for Windows - LIVE titles are sometimes used by players to obtain a compatible key.
Examples:
If you do not want to pay full price for those titles, they are often available from key resellers for much less.
007: Quantum of Solace on PC has effectively been unavailable through normal first-hand digital storefronts for a long time.
That means people usually end up getting the game through second-hand copies, key resellers, or abandonware archives rather than through an official current storefront.
Availability and legality can vary by region, so use your own judgment and follow local rules.
The most commonly recommended source is MyAbandonWare.
At the moment, only the English/French 1.1 release is supported right now.
Unsupported setups currently include:
- repacks
- other regional releases
- unpatched
1.0 - other game versions
Install the game normally.
The recommended install path is the default path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Quantum of Solace(TM)\
Then install the official 1.1 patch.
Patch 1.1 may not install correctly if the game is not installed in the default C:\ location. To avoid path issues, the recommended setup is the default install path plus the official 1.1 patch.
If you are using a nightly build or a release build:
- extract or copy the build into the game root
- overwrite everything when prompted
- launch using
Launch Consolation.lnk
The included shortcut already uses the required -multiplayer launch argument.
Example target behind the shortcut:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Quantum of Solace(TM)\JB_Launcher_s.exe" -multiplayer
Nightly builds should ship with Launch Consolation.lnk for this.
If your game is installed in the default directory, you should be able to use the included shortcut as-is.
If your game is not installed in the default directory, edit the shortcut target so it points at your real install path.
You should install Games for Windows - LIVE separately using an up-to-date package.
The recommended source is:
Keep in mind that the newest available Games for Windows - LIVE package may not work properly with Project: Consolation in the future, depending on how compatibility evolves.
