애플 수석 고문이자 전 교육 담당 부사장. 오바마 정부의 국가 교육 기술 계획(National Education Technology Plan)과 커넥티드(ConnectEd) 계획에 애플 대표로 참여했다. UC버클리대학원을 졸업하고 휴렛패커드에서 일하던 중 스티브 잡스의 제안으로 애플의 54번째 직원이 되었다.

1984년부터 10년간 애플을 잠시 떠나 혁신 기술을 이용해 샌디에이고의 한 학교를 탈바꿈시키는 일을 했다. 현재 이 학교는 학업 성취도가 높거나 학생 간 성취도 격차를 크게 개선한 학교를 치하해 지정하는 내셔널블루리본(National Blue Ribbon) 학교이다. 2002년 스티브 잡스의 요청으로 애플로 돌아가 교육을 디지털 시대로 이끄는 과업을 맡았다. 2017년에는 하버드대학 신입생 학습 연구 기금을 조성해 학생의 학습과 동기부여 개선을 위한 최신 연구를 지원했다. 필라델피아대학에서 교육 혁신에 대한 공로로 명예박사 학위를 받았다.
