Description
In our current text, we put requirements on what we think organizers need to have in order for them to be endorsed by us so that they can run APAC. We put out a list of requirements, we get a few volunteers from the different locales, and we chose which one we think should run the conference.
This puts us in a certain unique position: What authority are we basing ourselves on, and what responsibilities do we need to hold to have this authority? If we endorse a certain party, I think we also need to be clear on the responsibility that we hold as the party that endorses a certain organizer. We cannot just say "yes, you can hold PyCon APAC" but do not follow through on issues that might occur after that, i.e:
- We might have organizers that just disappear, and we might have to answer to the participants and the sponsors
- Organizers that just cancel at the last minute
- We might have multiple locales just want to hold PyCon APAC, and maybe a different locale will just do it even though they are not "endorsed" by us. There is actually nothing to stop them anyway.
