This file records various information on the study, patient, and MR scanner. It also includes a type of gradient coil, which is needed when applying non-linear gradient distortion unwarping (gradunwarp).

Note that if you apply gradunwarp, you may need to get the correction coefficients specific to the type of gradient coil (e.g. AS82) from Siemens, since these coefficients are considered to be proprietary information. To access these coefficients, your institution must have a research agreement or be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the vendor. If you don't have such an agreement, please contact to a local Siemens collaboration manager. If you belong to the university/institute in Japan, please contact to Katsutoshi Murata (Siemens Healthcare K.K.).

Example Seriesinfo.csv

The Seriesinfo.csv includes major scanning parameters for each sequence. Note that it records dwell time in read and phase and their direction/polarity (in subject's coordinates), which are needed to correct B0-related distortion of images using a gradient-echo fieldmap (FUGUE) or spin-echo fieldmap method (TOPUP). You may usually want to know values of 'DwelltimeRead' and 'Read.direction' for B0-distortion correction of 3D structural imaging (e.g. T1_MPR and T2_SPACE) whereas those of 'DwelltimePhase' and 'Phase.direction' for correcting B0-distortion in 2D-EPI such as functional MRI and diffusion MRI. Also note that 'NORM' in the column of 'image type' indicates 'prescan normalization = ON', of which setting usually needs to be consistent across scans (either ON or OFF) in the same session because the preprocessing usually assumes the same B1-related biasfield (Glasser et al., 2013).
