is there a way to disable ReRegistrySettingsBackup

Starting with release 2026.05.10, Win11Debloat creates a backup of your system registry settings before applying any changes. You can use this registry backup to easily restore the system settings that were modified by the script. This backup does not restore any applications that were uninstalled by the script. You will need to manually reinstall those apps after restoring the registry settings.

Is there a way to disable this? i am deploying win11debloat from a ro location and obviously it can't write in the Backups folder

Heya,

I believe a registry backup is currently always created. Are you encountering an error with this? The backups folder is created within the script main folder, so permission issues shouldn't be a problem as long as the script folder itself is accessible/writeable.

Hi Raphire👋, thanks for the reply and confirming that i haven't missed anything!

Unfortunately in my case Win11Debloat is run from a RO folder (a precompiled mounted .iso, as part of a process to create golden-templates for vms) which in turn triggers errors.

I was able to go around this limitation by making the RegistrySettingsBackup a no-op

    param(

        [object[]]$ExtraFeatures = @()

    return

}

I don't know if that could have any other implications besides loosing the ability to restore (which i don't mind)

I see, that should be fine. I will see to it that this functionality can be disabled more easily in the future.
