I'm Rylen Sampson, a trained data scientist and machine learning enthusiast with a Master's degree in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University.

🌊 About Me

Background: I have a strong foundation in data science and machine learning with hands-on experience in various research and professional projects. This experience includes delivering business-ready NLP models, conducting statistical analyses and sharing prominent results with stakeholders, and modifying existing machine learning techniques to overcome problem-specific barriers in a research setting.

Skills: Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and other mathematical and statistical languages and libraries, including NumPy, PyTorch, HuggingFace, and Pandas.

Interests: Passionate about environmental tech and looking to contribute to projects that drive sustainability and positive environmental change. Bonus points for ocean-related projects!

⚙️ Working On...

  • learning the basics of geographic analysis in Python with libraries such as Arcpy, GeoPandas, and Dash.
  • a carbon intensity index (CII) calculator. While the equation is complex and relies on having vessel data points, there is currently no dashboard with simulations to inform ship owners.
