Solar Panel Positioner

This repository is for a project developed during a hack-a-thon at Queen's University in 2018. The packaged code takes coordinates and a property radius to find an optimal solar panel position and angle.

Jointly developed with Daniel Forestell

Installation

To use this library, please fork or copy the repository to a local directory. The script can be run using main.py. The code utilizes the Geocoding API from Google and an API key should be obtained prior to running the script.

Contributing

This is an old project and will not be continuously maintained, so no pull requests will be addressed at this time.

About

Runs a script that based on address or coordinates, will determine the optimal location to position solar panels near you within a certain radius. Uses the google maps API. Uses basic concepts of solar panel positioning and different algorithms for determining certain data.
