GPS from RPC service

Using Unleashed firmware, with their "qUnleashed" companion app - GPS information is available VIA an RPC service.

How difficult would it be to utilize this GPS info, in lieu of the current GPS module options?

Where is that rpc pulling the gps from if flipper doesn't have the hardware?

It's pulling it from a mobile phone if I'm reading that code correctly.

The nightly build has this now: Settings > GPS From > Phone, on Unleashed firmware, paired with the qUnleashed companion app over BLE or USB.

A few things worth knowing before testing:

• Compile-verified against Unleashed's SDK (API 88.2) and the symbols check out, but I haven't run it against a real phone yet, so field reports are welcome.
• Fixes coarser than 100 m get rejected rather than used, since a phone with no clear sky view answers with a cell-tower estimate that looks exactly like a real fix.
• It's not the recommended source if you care about staying untracked. A GPS module only receives; a phone is a second radio tied to a subscriber account. README has the full tradeoff.

I apologize for the super late reply - I wasn't getting notifications on this for some reason. Sorry!

Updating and testing right now, will update this thread with my results.

Edit: Flashed latest version of unleashed, updated flipdeflock-unleashed.fap, and flashed my Wi-Fi Module v1 board with the companion firmware. Everything seems to be working so far, GPS count works and climbs rapidly as phone grabs more sat signals. I'll drive near some cameras later today to see if the app is working correctly with GPS.

Btw there are some new ALPR and bodycam OUIs so happy hunting!

Well, the new changes and firmware "appear" to be working - however after driving past a few known ALPR's, the app didn't pick anything up. I'm not sure this is an issue related to the RPC GPS - so I'll probably have to start a new issue.
