Welcome to the v1.4.0 release of Refloow™ Geo Forensics! Building upon our massive universal media engine upgrade, this release focuses on expanding functionality for large-scale investigations and officially paving the way for our Microsoft Store debut. With the introduction of deep folder scanning, native in-app video playback, and a highly requested retractable sidebar, analyzing massive troves of evidence has never been smoother.

✨ New Features & Enhancements

  • Microsoft Store & AppX Readiness (#51, #48): We have officially configured the build pipeline to support .appx packages for the Microsoft Store. This includes dedicated store imagery, building icons, and specific environment logic to disable the standard Electron auto-updater when running a Store build.
  • Deep Folder Scanning (#43): You can now execute deep, recursive scans on directories, allowing the engine to automatically dig through nested sub-folders to extract media evidence all at once.
  • Scan Time Estimator (#49): To complement the new deep scanning capabilities, we've introduced an intelligent scan timer estimator. Backed by a new API route, this UI field actively calculates and displays the estimated time remaining for massive evidence folders.
  • In-App Video Previews & Playback (#44): Taking full advantage of v1.3.0's video codec extraction support, we have implemented native video previewing and player logic directly within the app. To reflect this, UI terminology has been updated globally from "images" to "media".
  • Overlapping Pin Clustering (#35): Plotted map pins that share the exact same GPS coordinates now feature dedicated rendering logic and styling for a significantly cleaner, more organized geographic view.

💄 UI/UX Polish & Improvements

  • Retractable Sidebar (#47): Maximize your map and evidence viewing real estate. We've added fresh logic and styling to allow the main sidebar to be fully retracted out of view.
  • Deep Scan Loading Animations (#45): Long processing times are now accompanied by a smooth, animated loading bar to clearly indicate active background processing during heavy extraction tasks.
  • Map Layer Persistence (#37): The application will now remember and save your specifically selected map layer preference across future sessions.
  • Donation Modal Scaling (#46): Resolved a UI scaling issue that caused the donations modal to render improperly on certain window sizes.

🛠️ Developer & Documentation Updates

  • Dependency Version Locking: Core package dependencies are now strictly locked to ensure reliable, reproducible development builds for open-source contributors.
  • Documentation & Recognition: The README has been updated to highlight a brilliant new feature blogpost by brightcoding.dev in our #featured section.
  • General Maintenance: Shipped an under-the-hood patch to resolve issue #50.
