⚙ Using weakpass-cli Commands

Here are some common commands and how you can use them:

  • Check if a password has been leaked:
    Type:
    weakpass-cli.exe check-password yourpassword
Replace yourpassword with the password you want to test. The program will tell you if the password appears in any leaks.

  • Search by hash:
If you have a hash of a password, use:
    weakpass-cli.exe search-hash yourhash
Replace yourhash with the hash value.

  • Retrieve breach information:
    Use:
    weakpass-cli.exe breach-info breachname
Replace breachname with the name of a known data breach.

  • List available options:
    Type:
    weakpass-cli.exe help
This will display all commands that weakpass-cli supports.

All commands work directly through the terminal. Just type the command, press Enter, and read the output.

🔧 Configuration

weakpass-cli stores some settings in a file called config.json. You can find this file in the folder where the program runs.

Settings you may adjust include:

  • API key for Weakpass.com (if required)
  • Timeout settings for connections
  • Output format (text or JSON)
  • Logging preferences

The config file is plain text and can be edited with Notepad or any text editor.

🛠 Troubleshooting

  • Command not recognized:
Make sure your Command Prompt is pointed to the folder where the .exe file is located. Use the cd command to change folders.

  • No response or errors from API:
Check your internet connection. The tool needs to communicate with Weakpass.com servers.

  • File won’t run:
Confirm you downloaded the Windows executable file from the Releases page, not the source code.

  • Permissions:
If the program won’t start, try running the Command Prompt as Administrator.
