1. Creating the terminal interface.
The first sub-system we need to create is the terminal interface. The terminal interface is the component we need to have ready before we can start creating or modifying files.
Here you can find a link to the chat I had with chatgpt for this project. Chatgpt may be tailored differently for all of us, because of its memory save system.
As you can seem, I made a big prompt, and even that prompt was made by AI! This prompt gives clear instructions for chatgpt.
- Make ONLY the terminal interface
- It should run inside the terminal
- It should have control over the screen
- It should have some sort of input
- And more
As you probably have experienced before, AI is terrible with understanding what we as humans want, it doesn't have the human emotional and creativity factors.
So we should give it more instructions for the task in order for it to completely understand what it must achieve. If you are a lazy person (like me) and don't want to type in the prompt yourself, you can open a new tab with a new chat. Then you can type 1 sentence about what you want to do, tell it to write a prompt, and then copy-paste that into the original chat.
Now, few things first, I would recommend you tell your AI not to produce any comments. Why? Because that way you can read through your code and explain it in your own words. That isn't neccesary, but it would help you understand what code is written, maybe the AI accidently deletes your whole user database and you didn't catch it because your to lazy to read your code.
So it's good practice to either read through the code and make sure you understand 100% of it, or you can write comments yourself to explain what each part does. I also asked the AI to explain to me what and why he writes a specific line, making it easier to understand whats happening.
Then I have also personalized my AI to give me each file that it gives me the names of the files being worked on. That way we can know where it is changing stuff.
