Context

DRAFT - NEEDS ADDITIONAL TESTING AND VALIDATION

The Symbol Documentation Tool is a feature added to Roo Code that enables retrieving documentation, type information, and hover details for symbols in the codebase. It uses VS Code's language services to find symbols and their definitions, providing detailed information about their usage and context.

This allows the AI models to work with libraries that post-date their training data.

Implementation

Tried to use the same patterns that existing tools use. Two markdown docs have additional details, but we can remove them before this is merged since I didn't immediately a place for them to fit.

How to Test

  • Open a file in a language supported by the IDE or one of your LS plugins
  • Ask about the AI to tell you more about an imported symbol
