Math, Stats and CS Student at UofT
👋 Hi, I’m Ryan Junejo! I’m a Machine Learning enthusiast currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Mathematical Applications in Probability and Statistics with a minor in Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
💻 My journey in the field includes a valuable internship at the Vector Institute, where I developed innovative Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models aimed at enhancing species classification for biodiversity conservation efforts. This work involved revamping existing pipelines and creating evaluation metrics using OpenAI's CLIP and Meta's Hiera Transformers on the iNaturalist datasets.
🌟 Currently, I’m a Senior Data Quality Specialist at Cohere, where I focus on refining Large Language Models. I play a pivotal role in enhancing data quality through meticulous auditing, labeling, and ranking of machine learning data. Additionally, I contributed to the testing and release of Aya Expanse, Cohere for AI's newest multilingual model, ensuring its robustness and effectiveness across various languages.
🤝 Outside of my work, I’m actively involved in student life at UofT as the Secretary of the Computer Science Student Union and as the Director of Fundraising for the University of Toronto Outdoor Club. I also participate in initiatives like Freefood@UofT, aimed at addressing food insecurity and fostering a stronger community among students. These projects reflect my commitment to making a positive impact beyond academics and research.
🎤 I have shared my work and research through presentations at several esteemed platforms, including the Machine Learning Research Group at the University of Guelph, the Vector Institute, and the Computer Science Student Union Colloquium at the University of Toronto. Engaging with a vibrant community of researchers and practitioners has greatly enriched my understanding of the field.
🌱 I am dedicated to leveraging data and machine learning to drive positive change, particularly in climate change and community development. I’m always eager to connect with fellow enthusiasts and explore collaborative opportunities!
