Identify any legal issues

  • All 3rd party software and libraries we plan on using have complete open-source access
  • Consolidation of this page’s information could be used as punitive action against a professor over one class of poor performing class
  • All intellectual property is owned by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering - the dataset is owned by them as well
  • Concerns of defamation: The software's output or information may inadvertently contain defamatory statements or false information that could lead to defamation.
    • Ensure that software output is unbiased and objective, and can’t be used to defame any users of the cite
  • Concerns of the misuse of data: There is a risk that the software may be used to collect or process data in a manner that violates privacy laws or user agreements, potentially leading to legal repercussions
    • User Consent Mechanisms: Implement mechanisms for obtaining explicit and informed consent from users before collecting or processing their data
    • Ensure that users understand the purpose of data collection and have the option to opt out
  • Ensure accessibility accommodations, complying with accessibility standards like WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to make it usable by individuals with disabilities
