better moderation for rooms (maybe)

The concept of "Sable-specific rooms" is so outside of the scope of what I want from a Matrix client. If this happens, I will immediately switch back to Cinny, personally. I do not see why there is this insistence for this heavyhanded, bespoke in-client moderation, and hope that it never makes it into the client. "Limited effectiveness" is understating it, Matrix is an open ecosystem where people can bring whatever client they want.

and the point is more a cosmetic suggestion for room members. maybe even opt out, like a “follow suggested xyz” option, so that it isn’t unduly restrictive.

Thank you. Regardless, this issue seems entirely pointless considering that Matrix is an open ecosystem, and people are always going to be bringing their own clients, and as mentioned in #674 people can already arbitrarily set their own account name, display name, picture, etc. etc. In an open ecosystem like Matrix, the moderation reponsibility is always going to have to lie with server, space, and room operators. The client trying to operate as a moderator is completely ineffective as people will be using a diverse variety of clients who at a baseline are just going to follow the standards. There is no actual "enhanced moderation," since it only applies to such a small % of users. The understated "limited effectiveness" rules this out altogether, I'd think.

I took this as rooms specific to Sable users, not room FEATURES. The features are fine, of course.

we had that discussion yesterday in the matrix space, and came to the conclusion that hiding would be the best interim solution until matrix allows moderation bots to actually listen to extensible profiles changes (as that would be needed to automatically and effectively moderate using bots like draupnir and such)
