Troubleshooting & FAQ

This section covers common issues and questions about the Guided Generations extension.

Buttons Are Missing

If some buttons do not appear:

  • Make sure you have enabled them in the extension settings under Buttons Visibility or Tool Buttons【504450684063158†L12-L144】.
  • Verify that you are using SillyTavern version 1.12.9 or later and that the LALib library is installed and enabled【550552128161055†L146-L150】.
  • Reload SillyTavern or re‑add the extension from the Quick‑Replies menu.

Context Menus Not Appearing

If you click a persistent guide or tool and nothing happens:

  • Switch to a different chat and back; sometimes the UI needs to refresh.
  • Remove and re‑install the extension from the Quick‑Replies menu.
  • Check your browser console for errors. If debug mode is disabled you can enable it temporarily in settings to see more information【550552128161055†L120-L122】.

Guided Continue Buttons Don’t Work

Undo and Revert buttons only appear after using Guided Continue. If they don’t appear, make sure you have executed a Guided Continue and enabled the “Show Undo” and “Show Revert” buttons in the settings.

Profile or Preset Doesn’t Switch

  • Ensure the profile or preset name exists in SillyTavern. After adding new profiles or presets, use the “Refresh Dropdowns” button in the settings.
  • Turn on Debug Profiles to log switching information to the console and see what the extension is doing.

Other Issues

If you encounter unexpected behaviour:

  • Restart SillyTavern.
  • Check for updates to the extension by reinstalling it from GitHub.
  • Consult the official SillyTavern documentation for general guidance.
